STAFF MEMBERS

The National Administrative Office (NAO) is the administrative and secretarial organ of the Union under the direct control and guidance of the National Secretary its functions are defined in the Constitution.

The NAO will be headed on a day-to-day basis by a General Secretary (if one has been appointed).  The General Secretary is an appointed employee of the Union and is appointed in terms of the Constitution according to the means of the Union (as are all NAO employees).

If the Union cannot afford to appoint full, or part-time, employees all of the functions of the NAO must be taken on by the National Office Bearer portfolio holders.

The NAO liaises with Branches as directed by the National Executive Committee in order to communicate decisions of the NEC, or issue requests for information from the NEC.  NAO staff are responsible for the day-to-day administration of subscription collection, accounting (book-keeping) and the carrying out of NEC decisions, purchasing, dispatch of official press releases, response papers, coordinating the participation of the Union and its delegates in national level meetings.

Major direction for the NAO activities is given by the NEC or the National President - day-to-day direction is given in terms of the Constitution via the National Secretary, or, the General Secretary under the guidance of the National Secretary, or via the National President.
